Silky soft hair is beautiful and feels appealing to the touch. Luckily, most hair can quickly be changed from dry, brittle, and unmanageable to supple, shiny and smoother hair. We reveal how you can make your hair your crowning glory once again. Follow a few easy steps and enjoy the lustre of healthy-looking hair.
How would you describe your hair? Would you use words like unmanageable, brittle, damaged, dull or worse? All your hair needs is moisture and a little TLC. The cuticles covering every hair are naturally smooth and tiled to create on even, light-reflecting surface making your hair feel smooth and look shiny. When your hair is damaged, the cuticles do not form this tight, even surface and because of this, the outer hair cuticles reflect little light. As a result damaged hair looks dull and lifeless.
Consistent and suitable care will provide your hair with vitality and silky shine. The steps to hair with a healthy glow will be quick and easy once you know what to do and what not to do.
1st Step: The Shampoo
Use a mild shampoo with caring properties. It is important to massage the shampoo directly onto the scalp keeping the shampoo away from the ends as much as possible. Rinse out the shampoo but stop rinsing when the hair still feels silky soft. Then apply a conditioner through the lengths and ends of the hair, leave in for two minutes and then rinse. If your hair is very dry or damaged, use an intensive hair mask or treatment once a week to deeply condition the hair.
2nd Step: Drying Your Hair
Blow-dry your hair from the roots toward the hair ends rather than the other way around. This is gentler on the hair cuticles and minimises frizz. Using this technique will encourage the cuticles to lay flat and makes your hair look shiny.
3rd Step: Styling
Hair oil or a hair balm are the ultimate remedy for dull-looking hair. Even a trace of hair oil brings back the hair’s lustre and shine. Fly-away hair will behave properly if you treat it with gloss or moisture spray. If using heated styling tools, always use a heat protectant spray to help prevent damage to the cuticle layer.
Other Dry Hair Remedies
Aside from the proper hair care, regular scalp massages can prevent hair from drying out by stimulating the blood flow to the scalp. Brushing your hair from the roots to the hair ends also helps. Every brush stroke carries the sebum from the scalp toward the hair ends. Brushing will make your hair supple and provide deep lustre.
