We share with you the best strategies for keeping your hair tangle-free and manageable after washing. Combing freshly washed hair can be a challenge but if you use the right hair care products it can be easy.
Tip 1: Comb your hair before washing
It is best to comb your hair before washing. Apply shampoo to wet hair and gently massage the products onto your scalp and through your hair. After thoroughly rinsing apply conditioner to the mid-lengths and ends of the hair, massage in and rinse thoroughly. Do not apply conditioner to the root area. Gently dab your hair dry with a towel rather than rubbing it with force.
Tipp 2: Be gentle
Despite your best efforts there still may be a few tangles after washing your hair. In such a case, patience is key. Gently pull the tangles apart with a comb without applying undue force. Combing your hair with a lot of vigour will only damage, break or rip the hair from the roots.
Tip 3: Start by detangling and combing the ends of your hair
Hold small portions of your hair ends and gently detangle them. This will help stop you combing your hair with force as it is more manageable. Do not start detangling your hair close to the roots because the hair knots tend to move towards the hair ends where they will exacerbate the problem.
Tip 4: Use the proper type of comb
Use a wide-toothed comb made of wood or hard rubber and comb small strands of hair at a time. Different from plastic combs, wood or rubber combs have the advantage of not creating an electrical charge as a result of gliding through your hair.
Tip 5: Allow your hair to partially dry before you comb it
Wet and damp hair is far more sensitive, stretchable and prone to damage than dry hair, which means detangling wet hair can cause damage to the hair shaft. To reduce this, towel dry or partially blow-dry your hair before combing. Or if you can give your hair a break from wet styling, let it air dry before detangling.
Tip 6: Use hair masks for more manageable hair
Deep caring hair masks provide instant manageability and can repair hair damage by filling in gaps in the hair shafts. As a result, the conditioned hair is smooth and pliable. Masks may be applied after shampooing and should be thoroughly rinsed clear with water. Alternatively, you may apply a leave-in conditioning spray to your damp or dry hair.
