  • Most people watch the first appearance of grey hairs with mixed feelings. Today, greying hair is no big deal but you may want to adapt your hair style to the new reality. Long hair and edgy hair fashion experiments rarely go well with greying hair not to mention the expectations of your peers. In contrast, short hair styles make you look more distinguished and elegant. Of course, this is not new to the stars. Although all of the here featured stars wear their greying hair short, every one of them manages to express his personality in his unique hair style. Like always, Pierce Brosnan shows elegant restraint, Robert Downey Jr. prefers the tousled style, George Clooney prefers the old-fashioned version and Antonio Banderas looks classy with very short greying hair.

  • Managing Greying Men’s Hair

To increase the appeal of greying hair you should not only adapt your haircut but also your hair care and styling habits. Greying hair contains less melanin, which protects from the damaging effects of UV rays on the hair’s keratin. Hair also gets thinner with increasing age. As a result it needs more UV protection and more care. Using a vitalising shampoo and nutrient-rich conditioners for hair and scalp restores the vibrant nature of your hair.

Gel and pomade are rich in oil and are well suited for men’s salt and pepper hair styles because they condition the hair and provide appealing lustre.

George Clooney: A Hair Style Classic

George Clooney’s classic hair style is accurately parted on one side. The hair is softly cut with scissors and shows no hard transitions. On the crown of the head, the hair is kept slightly longer. This portion of the hair is layered and thinned out for more structure.
Styling: Part your hair on one side after shampooing and blow-dry it. Keep running your fingers through your hair while blow-drying it. Finally, use some pomade or wax to shape individual strands of your hair on top of your head.

Robert Downey Jr.: The Just-out-of-Bed Hair Style

For this style the top front part of the hair should be about five centimetres (two inches) long. The greying side hair and the hair toward the back of the head are cut slightly shorter. The style appeals through soft contours. Variations in hair length provide the needed structure. To give this hair style its casual look simply put some styling gel on your fingers before running them through your hair back to front. Tousle your front hair to increase the devil-may-care appearance. The side hair however is combed in orderly fashion.

In this style, the side hair and the hair in the back of the head are noticeably shorter than the top hair. The hair is cut with scissors and the contours remain soft.
Styling: Blow-dry your hair completely after shampooing while combing the side and back hair close to your scalp for a well organised look. The hair on the crown of your head is first blown forward until it is almost dry. Then comb the top hair back until it is completely dry.
