Cutting your hair short is quick and easy but the same can hardly be said about the transition from short to long hair. Patience and styling skills are essential if you want to make this change without losing a fashion beat. Having the proper styling skills and products definitely helps to bridge the gap between creativity and styling success. Agyness Deyn demonstrates just how creative and stylish the transition can be.

  • Agyness Deyn made her breakthrough wearing a platinum blonde pixie haircut which certainly got her noticed. She turned her lucky break into a successful modelling career and soon, her particular style of pixie became a household name as 'the aggy'. As her career progressed, Agyness decided that it was time to part with her signature haircut and to let her hair grow long. With the flair of a true professional she made the best out of every transitional step. Currently, her hair has grown long enough for a stylish long bob or ‘lob’.

Look through our photo gallery below to see how Agyness Deyn approached the styling challenges faced during the transition from pixie cut to long bob.

    Starting Hairstyle: The Pixie Haircut

The platinum blonde pixie was Agyness Deyn’s signature hairstyle for many years. In November 2007, she styled the pixie up and away from her face for a quiff-like appearance revealing her penchant for punk styles and glamour at the time.

Styling: Use a strong hold hair wax to keep your style in place.

In May 2010, Agyness Deyn went a step further and turned her pixie into a buzz cut. This drastic change added a sassy and confident edge to her look and emphasised her facial features. Of course, hair care is a cinch with razor short hair

With the exception of bleached hair ends, Agyness Deyn’s hair had its natural colour in October of 2010. In the style reminiscent of Iroquois warriors, her side hair is razor short. In preparation for war, young Iroquois styled a narrow strip of hair upward from the front to the back. By contrast, Agyness Deyn combed her long peak of top hair forward into her forehead.

Styling: Distribute a pea-sized dollop of hair gel in the palms of your hands. Then use your hands to stroke your longer top hair forward into the forehead

At this transitional hairstyle stage in March of 2011, Agyness Deyn started to grow the hair at the side of her head longer. There is no need to hide the differences in hair length as this is just right for the modernised Eton crop.

Styling: Use a remouldable hair wax to style this look, allowing you to alter its appearance throughout the day.

In November 2011, Agyness Deyn’s hair had grown long enough for a page boy haircut. Once again, she coloured her hair platinum blonde. With a sweeping side fringe, this sleek style looks soft and feminine.

Styling: To finish the look, use an extra gloss hairspray or apply a styling oil through the hair to enhance shine and tame and fly-aways.

As her hair grew longer Agyness Deyn changed her hair colour again in November 2011. For this short undone bob her wheat blonde hair shows its darker roots.

Styling: Work salt spray through towel-dried hair and blow-dry, tousling it into a trendy undone style.

On average, hair grows about 0.6’’ per month. Depending on the nature of your hair, it will take about twelve months from pixie to shoulder length hair. You can encourage healthy hair growth with a little bit of tlc. Take care of your hair with conditioning treatments and treat your scalp to a massage every once in a while. Healthy hair growth will be your reward.
