Once again, the side parting has emerged from the relic box. In recent seasons, middle partings dominated the scene on catwalks all over the globe. Now, designers have rediscovered the side parting for the winter 2011/2012 season. Models increasingly showcase side partings. Today, the partings are mostly very exacting and created far down on one side. Side partings do not lose their newly found glory in the 2012 summer fashion either. Stars already part their hair on the side and on the red carpet stars and models embrace the new trend with very appealing hair styles from gel-sleeked to bouncy hair and glamorous waves.

  • Is the Side Parting Your Style?

Side partings look appealing with short and long hair alike. The facial features do not play a role at all. However, small faces may appear even smaller when side partings are combined with long open fringes. (It is alright to pull the fringes to the side.) Side partings take the focus away from the centre of the face and are therefore ideal for faces with prominent noses or chins. Square-shaped faces seem smaller when the hair is parted on the side.

  • How to Part Your Hair on the Side

The tail ends of styling combs come in handy for creating exacting side partings. We recommend a conditioning rinse or treatment before styling. Parting soft, easy flowing hair is particularly easy.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's glamorous hair style conjures up Hollywood’s golden days. To create the style pull your hair over a round brush while blow-drying it completely. Then part your hair on the side. Roll your hair on a curling iron strand by strand. Wait a short while, remove the curling iron and allow the hair to cool. Use a slide to secure your hair behind your ear on the side opposite to the parting. Gloss spray gives this hairdo extra class

Jaime King loves to try new hair styles. Here she has parted her hair very low on one side. She has given her asymmetrical hairdo plenty of volume on top of her head. You can create this hair style by applying volumising mousse to your hair after shampooing. Then blow-dry your hair while pulling it over a round brush. Part your hair on one side. Apply hair spray to the covering hair on top of your head and slightly tease the sprayed hair. Pull the entire hair to the side where you have created the side parting and secure it in the neck with crosswise affixed hair slides

The singer keeps intriguing us with her sophisticated hair styles. This hairdo also has its special twist. The front hair falls loosely into her face. It is then twisted around and pulled back to be secured in the back of her head. Start by parting your hair on one side before gathering the hair low in the nape of the neck. The gathered ponytail and the side parting are located on the same side. Then twist the ponytail into a chignon and secure it with hair pins. The sideways swept hair from the front is turned around its own axis once, wound around the chignon and secured with hair pins
