Milan is caught up in a wave of excitement. Since February 23rd, the fashion wheels are turning at the Milan Fashion Week 2011. Well-established as well as new creative designers introduce their fashion creations for fall and winter 2011
Frida Giannini’s designs for Gucci are inspired by the actress Angelica Huston and the singer Florence Welch of ‘Florence and the Machine’ fame. Her colourful and opulent designs are made of chiffon, silk and fur. The reference to the by-gone 1970s cannot be overlooked.
The designer Alberta Ferretti clearly distinguishes her very successful ready-to-wear collection from her designs for the evening. Aside from intense colours like fuchsia and petrol, she also presents creations in beige and black.
Francecso Scognamiglio has arrived thanks to his expressive and exacting designs. Once again, his designs show that he no longer should be considered the up and coming secret of the fashion world.
As you can see, very diverse inspirations and their implementations compete at the Milan Fashion Week 2011. There is however a common thread in all spring collections. The designers obviously created their lines with the strong powerful woman in mind. This trend also includes the make-up and hair styles. Beige tones are still trendy but the intense berry colours are on the rise, especially as lip colours. Sleek looks with deep-set side partings express confidence, while teased updos allow for charming and glamorous evening hair styles and dandy looks with nostalgic flair.
