Women who are lucky enough to have silky long hair love to wear it down. We have looked at how celebrities wear their long hair to provide you with some inspiration on styling your long looks. A key tip for long hair is to cut it regularly to keep it looking healthy. Also using hair accessories and styling products can help give an extra dimension to your hair.

  • Some women gather their long hair into a ponytail, chignon or other updo’s. However, if you regularly wear your hair down, it is essential to have a good haircut as well as treating your hair to ensure it looks healthy and beautiful.

  • Styling Long Hair: A Good Haircut is the Foundation

Long hair may be cut in many different ways for example:

    • It may be partly or fully layered.
    • The ends of the hair may be cut to a blunt or round shape.
    • You may wear long hair with or without a fringe, which may be long or short, symmetric or asymmetric.

Anna Faris and Padma Lakshmi (see our featured images) have both simply styled long hair. The middle parting in Anna Faris’ blonde, well-defined waves is barely noticeable as it is covered by her straight fringe.

In contrast, Padma Lakshmi’s side parting is very prominent in her dark brown hair, with the front section of hair combed to one side. The hair on the same side as her parting is pushed behind her ear while the rest of her wavy dark hair falls naturally over her shoulders.

  • Styling Long Hair: Extra Hair Elements

Small extra styling elements and carefully chosen accessories can give long hair its appeal, style and glamour. Long sections of hair over the forehead can be gathered and secured at the back of the head. The covering hair can be combed back with gel to create a wet look. Long hair can also be swept over one shoulder and be either straight, wavy or curly. There is no limit to your creativity. Hair tools like straighteners, curling tongs, hair grips, clips or hair accessories like hairbands come in handy when styling your long hair.

The stars in our photo gallery show a few of the many ways to wear your long hair down. In his video, our hair expert Armin Morbach shows how to turn your long hair into a trendy hairstyle by creating a quiff. It only takes a few steps.
